External eye & coaching

With over 27 years of combined experience in sports, dance, circus, and pole dance, alongside a lifelong passion for sociology and cultural analysis, I am interested in putting my expertise to the service of others and their projects, as an acrobatic/technical, dramaturgical or choreographic external eye.

My experience in finding a path outside the box has deeply informed my coaching work, which helps others in their own individual journey. I can adapt to amateur practitioners, aspiring or emerging artists and as an artistic advisor on professional projects.

Collaboration can be done in one-shot sessions or longer term, in English, French or Spanish.

External eye / artistic consultancy

For aspiring professionals and emerging performers, I offer artistic consultation sessions aimed at helping you find and polish your style and material. These sessions can be also built around a specific piece or number, at any stage. From early research to the last details, I can work as external eye, consultant or choreographer, putting my experience at the service of your idea to bring your work to the next level.

For current open classes, please visit the Brussels Art And Pole agenda. Sign up for classes via the Eversports app.

In the case of technical work, for new coachees, every session begins with a guided warmup to prepare the body for that day’s program and to prevent injuries.
Autonomous warm-up prior to class is only possible for advanced practitioners after the warm-up routines have been established together.

Technical coaching

One size does not fit all

My background in gymnastics, ballet and circus, often with traditional methodology, put an enormous strain on my body in my student years. Numerous injuries led me to believe that I was too fragile. However, since adapting my training routines to my own body and working with a longevity above virtuosity mindset, I have been able to perform professionally and increase my technical level almost injury-free.

Similarly, the typical approach used in many circus schools, based on repertoire tricks and shapes, did not work for me. I only flourished artistically when I could focus on the work I was interested in developing, at the intersection of disciplines and with an adventurous love of the unknown.

I believe that one needs to build from the individual’s mind and body to fully develop their potential.

My role as your coach

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced practitioner, my job is to put my experience and expertise at your service and support you in your journey towards deepening your knowledge and skills, and achieving your goals.

I will commit to your process and create training programs in accordance with your level, body, mind, goals and needs. We will work together towards routines that work for you in the long term, with strong foundations and deep self-awareness to help you gain autonomy.

We will begin with an exchange to better understand where you’re coming from and if I am the right person for you. From then on, we will define how I can help you achieve your goals and prepare a specific training plan for you.

Testimonials

“Majo is a wonderful teacher ! When you come to her session, you are already in a good mood.

She takes the time to teach you how your body works and how you can use it optimally. She ensures each movement you make is done in a safe way, and always says no to the risk of getting a student injured : she teaches you to know your limits. She adapts to every student and helps them to reach their goals (even though sometimes it means repeating the same movement a thousand times) ! She always has new ideas to make every lesson unique while allowing her students to be a better version of themselves. When you achieve a position, you never know which one (you or her) is happier of your progress. That's who she is : serious, safe and so much fun !!”

— Perle, student since autumn 2021 (Hoop)

“Majo carefully pays attention to your needs and designs each training accordingly. Thanks to Majo, we are getting more and more flexible and stronger. She is also very creative in her workout combinations so it’s always fun to train with her!”

— Joelle & Cecilia, students from May 2020 to August 2021 (Conditioning)

“Among the many teachers I have had, Majo is one of those passionate people with whom learning is always a pleasure! It’s a clear knowledge with a touch of originality that makes her teaching both technical and fun. An instructive and inspiring discovery!”

— Nur, student from August 2018 to January 2019 (Handbalancing)

"Majo adapts wonderfully to her students. Having returned to sport after giving birth, it was important for me to strengthen my body gently. She adapted and modified her coaching according to my desires and needs but always gave quality classes, even at a distance! Her smile, her good mood, her energy and her encouragements are also always present! "

— Sophie, student from November 2020 to November 2021 (Flexibility and floorwork)

“I remember my first hoop class, Majo made it clear that punctuality, discipline and security were key values to her. That said, I enjoyed every minute of this first experience where we laughed and just enjoyed the moment. It was a bit frustrating in the beginning not to be able to climb on the hoop on my own. Now, almost one year later, not only can I climb on the hoop but I can spin on it! Majo tailors her coaching to each student, even the most self judgemental, to which I belong. I never thought that I’d deliberately spin upside down, hanging from my feet, and enjoy it. How satisfying is that? Her energy and her passion for what she does are contagious. Even when my body feels tired, Majo squeezes the best out of me and puts a smile on my face.”

— Mina, student since autumn 2021 (Hoop)

“If you are looking for serious, safe coaching tailored to your goals, I highly recommend Majo. More than only results, it is her knowledge in technique and biomechanics that she will pass on to you with kindness in order to move your body in a conscious and controlled manner.”

— Emmanuelle, student from May 2020 to November 2021 (Flexibility)

“Majo is helping me work on my handstand for about a year now, we went from a shaky banana shape with an injured shoulder to a beautiful line and no more pain. I’m a coach myself so it was important for me to find someone with biomechanics and teaching skills. In handstand, you fall a lot, she has taught me how to accept it, stay calm and move forward. It’s a long process so choosing the right coach is essential, Majo is always smiling, positive and encouraging me to do better. I’ve already recommended her to some of my clients who wished to learn handstand, result : they are as happy as I am!"

— Sarah, student from March 2020 to July 2021 (Handbalancing)
