CircusTalk: Microaggressions in the Performing Arts and Its Impact on the Creation- and Workspace (March 2021, English)
This is the 6th episode is of CircusTalk's Equity and Inclusion series "Wake Up Call for Inclusion." In previous episodes we have talked to artists, managers, authors, historians, psychologists about the different forms of institutional barriers and biases in the circus industry. This episode will be around the topic of microaggression, the silent, repeated and often times subtle and unconscious discrimination against members of a marginalized group. Does microaggression exist in the circus industry? How can we recognize it and prevent it? What effect does microaggression have on artists and creators? What is the responsibility of allyship? Johnathan Lee Iverson talks transparently and openly about this still "taboo" topic with his distinguished guests.
