Coaching and artistic counseling services

On top of my work onstage, I work as a coach and artistic counselor. My experience finding a path outside the box and working across the entertainment industry has deeply informed my coaching work. I take an individual-centered approach, striving to understand the specific needs and goals of each person I work with.

I am able to work with amateur and professional performers, providing detailed instruction at various skill levels in diverse disciplines, while specialising in pole dance, handbalancing, physical theatre and acrodance. Sessions include discipline-specific warmup, and drills for conditioning, flexibility and injury-prevention. Simultaneously, I can help performers work on movement quality, personal vocabulary development, interpretation, intent, and understanding the context an act or piece exists in.

I combine my experience and expertise in the field with cultural and socio-political analysis and theory to bring depth to artistic creation, creating contemporary relevant, meaningful dramaturgy and intentional movement.

Coaching and outside eye work can be done as one shots or long term collaboration, for short acts or longer performance projects. Specific group workshops can also be organised and tailored to the needs of each group.

Pricing varies depending on the length and complexity of the work as well as location, defined on either an hourly or daily basis.

Language of instruction can be English, French, or Spanish.

For current open classes, please visit the Brussels Art And Pole agenda. Sign up for classes via the Eversports app.

Testimonials

Majo is a great coach, with an amazing capacity to adapt material to different bodies and desires. Majo holds a comfortable space for learning with clear communication and qualitative exercises."

— Vincent Focquet, pole dancing coaching and advice (5 sessions) in preparation for role in show Friction (dir. Sophia Rodriguez), Autumn 2023

“Being coached by Majo is like getting 10+ years of advice and technical tips in an hour. Its impossible but so is Majo, in the sense that it's impossible that one person could actually have such wisdom, kindness and talent, except it is. Her approach is very friendly and kind, if you're searcing for general advice or very tricky and precise stuff she'll be able to help you either way. Be ready to werk werk werk werk and go follow her work she's an amazing artist and coach!”

— Atlas, one-shot pro artistic coaching, June 2023

“Majo is a wonderful teacher ! When you come to her session, you are already in a good mood.

She takes the time to teach you how your body works and how you can use it optimally. She ensures each movement you make is done in a safe way, and always says no to the risk of getting a student injured : she teaches you to know your limits. She adapts to every student and helps them to reach their goals (even though sometimes it means repeating the same movement a thousand times) ! She always has new ideas to make every lesson unique while allowing her students to be a better version of themselves. When you achieve a position, you never know which one (you or her) is happier of your progress. That's who she is : serious, safe and so much fun !!”

— Perle, student since autumn 2021 (Hoop)

“Majo carefully pays attention to your needs and designs each training accordingly. Thanks to Majo, we are getting more and more flexible and stronger. She is also very creative in her workout combinations so it’s always fun to train with her!”

— Joelle & Cecilia, coaching from May 2020 to August 2021 (Conditioning)

“Among the many teachers I have had, Majo is one of those passionate people with whom learning is always a pleasure! It’s a clear knowledge with a touch of originality that makes her teaching both technical and fun. An instructive and inspiring discovery!”

— Nur, coaching from August 2018 to January 2019 (Handbalancing)

“Majo was a phenomenal outside eye. They helped me analyze each element of my performance and be specific with my choices. It was privilege to have such a knowledgeable person support my creative practice.”

— Chrys Shipley, dramaturgic, technical and artistic outside eye (2 sessions) for their project “We Called Them Angel” as part of the Blankspace residency program by Cirklabo. June 2024.

“I remember my first hoop class, Majo made it clear that punctuality, discipline and security were key values to her. That said, I enjoyed every minute of this first experience where we laughed and just enjoyed the moment. It was a bit frustrating in the beginning not to be able to climb on the hoop on my own. Now, almost one year later, not only can I climb on the hoop but I can spin on it! Majo tailors her coaching to each student, even the most self judgemental, to which I belong. I never thought that I’d deliberately spin upside down, hanging from my feet, and enjoy it. How satisfying is that? Her energy and her passion for what she does are contagious. Even when my body feels tired, Majo squeezes the best out of me and puts a smile on my face.”

— Mina, student since autumn 2021 (Hoop)

“If you are looking for serious, safe coaching tailored to your goals, I highly recommend Majo. More than only results, it is her knowledge in technique and biomechanics that she will pass on to you with kindness in order to move your body in a conscious and controlled manner.”

— Emmanuelle, coaching from May 2020 to November 2021 (Flexibility)

“Majo is helping me work on my handstand for about a year now, we went from a shaky banana shape with an injured shoulder to a beautiful line and no more pain. I’m a coach myself so it was important for me to find someone with biomechanics and teaching skills. In handstand, you fall a lot, she has taught me how to accept it, stay calm and move forward. It’s a long process so choosing the right coach is essential, Majo is always smiling, positive and encouraging me to do better. I’ve already recommended her to some of my clients who wished to learn handstand, result : they are as happy as I am!"

— Sarah, coaching from March 2020 to July 2021 (Handbalancing)

"Majo adapts wonderfully to her students. Having returned to sport after giving birth, it was important for me to strengthen my body gently. She adapted and modified her coaching according to my desires and needs but always gave quality classes, even at a distance! Her smile, her good mood, her energy and her encouragements are also always present!"

— Sophie, coaching from November 2020 to November 2021 (Flexibility and floorwork)
